She started her career as a child actress in Bengali TV serials and did her first movie in 1997. But this popular theory has been turned upside down by Srabonti. So in most cases they marry after they reach 30. Once they get married, they gradually start losing the favour of the audience. Most of the actresses in every film industry begin their film career in their teens. Dev's romantic movie 'Paglu' owes its origin to a Telugu movie 'Devadasu. 'Singam 'was adapted in Tullygunj as 'Shatru'. Jeet's another movie 'Fighter' was a remake of 'Lakshyam'. Jeet's 'Josh' is an adaptation of the Telugu movie ' Bhadra'. But this movie copied the story from 'Gamyam'. Raj chakroborty directed ' Dui Prithibi' had Jeet and Dev in the same film for the first time. Dev and Srabonti's 'D ujone ' was from ' Nuvvu Nenu' and Jeet-Koyel movie 'Saat Panke Bandha' was taken from ' Pavitra Bandhanam'.

The movie which created a controversy for the song 'Bhaja Gourango', i.e. Dev-Payel starrer 'Le Chakka' was originally made as 'Chennai 600028' as a Tamil movie.

Sohom's movie 'Amanush' was again the remake of a Telugu movie 'Adhal Kondein'. Jeet's superhit 'Wanted' is a remake of 'Athadu', a 2005 Telugu movie. A Kannada movie 'Mungaru Male' was behind the making of 'Premer Kahini'. Dev and Koyel starred blockbuster 'I Love You' took its storyline from a another Telugu movie entitled 'Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana'. Srabonti's come back movie 'Bhalobasa Bhalobasa' with Hiron was inspired by a Telugu movie 'Bommarillu'. Two other Tamil movies '7G Railbow Colony' and 'Kaadhal' were re-produced in Tullygunj as 'Prem Amar' and 'Chirodini Tumi Je Amar' respectively. For example, Jeet's debut movie 'Sathi' in 2002 was a remake of a Tamil movie called 'Thulladha Manamum Thullam'. Recently, there is a trend to remake South Indian movies into Bengali. Gone are the days when Bengali blockbusters were made from original Bengali novels and stories. We must be proud of these Bengali girls achieving stardom in such a film industry which has so many heavy weight names like Anuska Shetty, Jyothika, Genelia D'Souza, Shriya Saran, Namitha, Nayanthara, Illiana and so on. Madhurima Banerjee is another Bengali beauty now sizzling the South Indian screen. This Kolkata born Kayastha girl did a Bengali movie as well entitled ‘Iti Srikanta.’

She appeared in a couple of Hindi movies too. Nominated twice for Filmfare supporting actress and best actress (Tamil), Reema Sen has a lon career extending from 2000. She too has five films in her filmography since 2010. Richa Gangopadhyay shared the screen with Shraddha Das in the movie’Nagavalli.’ She was born in 1986, and is a model turned actress. She appeared in a Hindi movie too entitled ‘Dil to Bachcha Hai.’ She played an important role in Nagavalli, the sequel of ‘Chandramukhi’ from which the Hindi ‘BhoolBhulaiya’ and Bengali ‘Rajmahal’ were made. Born and brought up in Mumbai, Shraddha had her debut in 2008 in the Telugu movie ‘ Sidhu from Srikulam.’ Till now she has acted in 12 Telugu movies. Her father is a Bengali businessman from Purulia. Prevoiusly we had Priyanka Trivedi Rituparna Sengupta and Rachna Banerjee attaining stardom there. Moreover, our Bengaly industry does not have an actor right now to re-play the character played by Sonu Sood in ‘Arundhati.’ĭo you know that not only in Tullygunj and Mumbai but also in Tamil and Telugu film industries, our Bengali girls are doing nice job? The South-Indian film industry is now to some extent dominated by Bengali girls. We can’t be bold enough to remake such a movie probably because our contemporary heroines are not as potential actress as Anuska Shetty. The movie had a box office collection of almost 30 crores and another 7 crores from satellite rights. The Telugu industry could be bold enough to make movies like ‘Arundhuti’ with Anuska Shetty. Paoli dam’s ‘Thana theke Aschhi’ also failed to have a good box-office collection.īut nowadays producers are not ready to invest money in actress oriented movies in Bengali. Rituparna Sengupta’s ‘Trishna’ was a weak remake of ‘Jism.’ The movie could not satisfy the expectations. Rachana Banerjee appeared in two such films namely ‘Sakha Sindurer Dibyi’ and ‘Rajmahal.’ Both the movies did good business. Payel Sarkar, Koyel Mullick, Shubhoshree Banerjee and Srabonti Biswas have never been cast in movies which are actress oriented. Bengli commercial actresses are included in recent Bengali commercial movies to appear mainly in song sequences. It’s true that the Bengali audience is crazy for actors like Prosenjit, Jeet and Dev. Although the Bengali film industry has been copying numerous films from Tamil and Telugu film industries, the producers and directors of Bengali movies are reluctant to remake actress oriented Tamil and Telugu movies.
